Idaho Wildfire Awareness Month (May) will be rolling out a couple different fire education campaign inlcuding #IdahoOLS and #SteppeUpIdaho. Both of these campaigns educate the public against the threat of human-caused fires to the wildlands but the #SteppeUpIdaho concentrates on the threat to wildfires within the SageSteppe ecosystem. This ecosystem is critical habitat for the Greater Sage Grouse and a multitude of other species but due to the increase of wildland fires a majority of it is overtaken by cheatgrass or other noxious weeds after a wildfires passes. We are asking the public to "Steppe Up" and help with unwanted human-caused fires by being vigilant when out recreating on Idaho lands. More to come!
